Place to B – World Social Forum
du 09/08/2016 au 14/08/2016
During the World Social Forum (WSF), Place to B will occupy the space at la Société des Arts Technologiques (SAT) to offer a “participatory press room” and gather journalists, artists and citizens in a place dedicated to the writing of a new narrative.
Towards a new narrative
The SAT will be managed in a way to provide a comfortable co-working space which will be entirely equipped to accommodate journalists, artists and citizens, a thematic program offering a wide range of workshops and conferences allowing to cover and debate on currents issues in a participatory manner, as well as a series of collaborative experiences to facilitate encounters and exchange among participants and to produce documentation about the event.
During the evening, Place to B will also welcome cultural and artistic activities in collaboration with the WSF.
A “positive activator” of the WSF
In occupying the SAT, which is also the media space of the WSF, Place to B Canada becomes simultaneously the bridge between multiple medias and the rally point for a new narrative. Through its physical space and it’s numerous channels of digital broadcasting, Place to B Canada aims to cover this event from a different angle which favors a constructive and positive approach around initiatives and solutions arising during the WSF.
Therefore, Place to B Canada embodies as much as an assembly point than the point of reference which will allow all participants of the WSF to navigate and document this event. The WSF is a worldwide event where approximately 50 000 people are expected and 1 200 activities will be presented throughout 13 thematic axes.
A space for the civil, the artistic and the media society
Every individual carries a story, a message. From the curious citizen to communication professionals and the media, Place to B Canada will gather in the same spot people who wish to talk about, tell, express, exchange and share their vision of change : “the narrators of change”. They may be a journalist, a blogger, an illustrator, a storyteller, an artist, a photographer, a director, a cartoonist… Place to B is above all a human and collective experience. It is also an open space where diversity, represented both in the narratives and the individuals, will be valued.
